Hussey Gay Bell is proud to have led the civil engineering efforts for Charme on Georgia Avenue, a new mid-rise student housing community in Statesboro, Georgia serving students at Georgia Southern University.
Located on approximately 2.99 acres at the former University Plaza site near the Chandler Road and Georgia Avenue intersection, the development brings together two connected residential buildings, integrated retail space, and a structured parking deck with rooftop amenities. Designed to support modern student living, the community delivers a mix of unit types alongside highly amenitized shared spaces.
Our team supported the project from early planning through construction, providing site design, permitting, surveying, and construction phase services. Civil scope included demolition, grading, site paving, drainage systems, and water and sewer infrastructure—ensuring the site could support the scale and complexity of the development.
Permitting efforts required coordination with the City of Statesboro, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, and NPDES requirements, along with site plan approvals through Georgia Southern University. A detailed topographic survey captured both existing infrastructure and site features to inform accurate design and execution.
Charme reflects the continued growth of Statesboro and the increasing demand for thoughtfully designed student housing near campus, bringing density, connectivity, and a strong mix of uses to a prominent corridor.
