Respectfully yours,
G. Holmes Bell, IV, PE
CEO & Chairman

For 60 years we’ve been

designing projects in and for the Southeast’s communities.

A Vision
Is Born

HUSSEY GAY BELL was founded and incorporated in the State of Georgia in April of 1958 by World War II veterans and native Savannahians, Roy Hussey, PE, and Ben Gay, PE. Both civil engineers, the gentlemen shared a passion and vision for the future growth of their hometown and rapidly immersed themselves into the planning and design of local infrastructure projects. It was during these first years of sustained portfolio growth that Mr. Hussey and Mr. Gay identified an emerging talent and soon thereafter hired Gus H. Bell, III, PE – a young and dynamic civil engineer working with the US Army Corps of Engineers who served the firm for 50+ years. Today the firm is one of the largest privately-owned engineering firms in the Southeast.

Evolving
To Meet The Demand

From the firm’s humble beginnings in a single room, one-telephone office in historic downtown Savannah, Georgia the firm has grown into a highly diversified, award-winning, ENR Top 500 and Top Southeast E-A design firm catering to seven core markets – commercial and residential, education, government, healthcare, industrial, transportation and water – by offering a fully integrated range of engineering disciplines including civil, water/wastewater, transportation, natural gas, environmental and structural in addition to architecture, interiors, landscape architecture, surveying and construction management.

Celebrating
The Next 60

Sixty-plus years after the founding of the firm, G. Holmes Bell, IV, PE, CEO and Chairman continues to build upon the firm’s reputation by embracing and enforcing its core founding principles of client service, high quality work and family by championing transformation and growth from within, as well as expanding the firm’s operations to other cities and states to better serve clients in our respective markets. Today the firm employs 160+ employees in eight office locations in three states throughout the Southeast region. Having refined the region through thoughtful designs for the past 60 years, we look forward to redefining the region for the next 60.
