As Senior Structural Engineer you will manage and coordinate the design of structures with an emphasis on building structures for education, light commercial, industrial and government markets. You will work alongside experienced engineers on projects across Georgia and throughout our other offices, as well as engage in business development and client relationship management efforts for the division as directed by leadership.
Core Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and analysis of complex structural systems for a variety of projects, including commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in structural engineering principles, codes, and best practices and instill these principals into junior level engineers.
- Manage projects with traditional steel frame, pre-engineered metal, CMU, timber, cold form steel, and tilt panel construction.
- Oversee and direct the preparation of detailed engineering plans, specifications, and reports using advanced software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis tools.
- Conduct structural analysis and develop innovative solutions to address complex engineering challenges.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design integration and project objectives are met.
- Review and approve project documentation, including design calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff, promoting professional development and adherence to engineering standards.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify structural integrity and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Provide QA/QC for projects.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Revit details, templates, and standards.
- Minimal travel to coordinate with project stakeholders and other Hussey Gay Bell offices.
- Attendance at client meetings.
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- 8 years of extensive experience preferred depending on other qualifications in structural engineering, with a strong track record of managing and delivering complex projects.
- Advanced proficiency in structural analysis and design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley, or similar tools.
- Deep understanding of structural engineering principles, building codes, and safety standards.
- Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in preparing and presenting technical information to clients and stakeholders.
