Hussey Gay Bell served as a subconsultant to prime consultant, Wood+Partners, to develop park master plans through construction documents for Gateway Park, Patriot’s Park, and Lakeside Athletic Park. Grovetown Center Park potential improvements include a large open space outdoor farmer’s market area, additional parking fields and sidewalks. The $3.5 million estimated Patriot’s Park expansion utilizes more than 45 newly acquired acres to add four new multi-purpose fields, 400 new parking spaces, new entrances and interconnected roadways within the park. The $3 million estimated Lakeside Athletic complex expansion includes a partnership with the Columbia County Board of Education. It is designed to include four full-size soccer, multi-purpose fields, six tennis courts, a small playground, a little plaza area and some picnic shelters. The park improvements were made possible through the 2017 General Obligation Bond Referendum that was voted in by Columbia County citizens on November 8, 2016.
WPi is currently working with Columbia County, Georgia to develop three new public parks. Gateway Park, a passive park located in Grovetown contains a large flexible use open space, walking trail, playground, splashpad, and picnicking faciliities. Patriots Park is expanding to include new soccer fields, supporting parking and new vehicular accesses. Lakeside Park, located near Lakeside High School in Evans, GA will contain a soccer complex, six (6) tennis courts, playground, picnic facilities and a walking trail. WPi is providing master planning through construction phase services for all three (3).
