Hussey Gay Bell is working closely with Augusta-Richmond County’s Engineering Department (AED) to enhance the operational efficiency and safety for vehicles and pedestrians at multiple intersections inclusive of Wheeler Road at Robert C. Daniel Parkway, Wheeler Road Urban Corridor from I-20 to Augusta West Parkway and Barton Chapel Road at SR 10/US 78/Gordon Highway. Wheeler Road at Robert C. Daniel Parkway involves improvements to multi-lane corridors with 2 lanes in each direction and addresses safety concerns such as weaving. Wheeler Road Urban Corridor from I-20 to Augusta West Parkway Improvements involves multiple intersections and includes curb radii increase, sidewalk connectivity, installation of R-CUTs, ADA pedestrian improvements at crosswalks and intersections, auxiliary lane additions/ extensions and MS4 permitting. Barton Chapel Road at SR 10/US 78/Gordon Highway Intersection Improvements includes a 2-lane roadway project with rural shoulders, open ditches and a multi-lane highway analyzing the current operations and improving the facility’s deficiencies.
