Town of Chapin 2.4 MGD WWTP

Project consisted of the design and construction of a new 2.4 MGD Ovivo carrousel plant to double the plant’s capacity which brought the treatment facility in line with the State Department of Health’s new guidelines for discharges into the public water system. The new $12 million facility was sited on approximately 33 acres on the eastern side of Holly Oak Lane and adjacent to the existing wastewater treatment facility. Significant features of this project included new influent channel screens, vortex grit removal, septage receiving station, odor control, carrousel oxidation ditch, clarifiers, chlorination/dechlorination, post aeration and effluent pump station. Solids handling included aerobic digestion and belt filter press building. Plant design included all electrical, instrumentation and controls, a new SCADA system, stand by generator and automatic transfer switch (ATS) and administration/lab building.
