Secession Effluent Force Main, Beaufort, SC

A World Record Is Set Under Navigable Waters

From 2006-2007, Hussey Gay Bell provided professional services to Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority (BJWSA) for complete engineering design of 5,000 LF of fused 10-inch PVC DR 14 effluent force main installed using horizontal directional drilling; 3,000 LF of 10-inch PVC effluent force main installed using direct bury methods; and one 1,000 GPM skid-mounted effluent pump station. This project featured installation of a 10-inch force main through environmentally sensitive areas such as navigable waters, wetlands and specimen oak trees; design of a record setting HDD through collaboration with the Owner and Contractor; development of project specifications to mitigate noise impacts to residents from HDD equipment; as well as approval from key agencies for crossing navigable waters and DOT roads.
