Orange Grove Elementary Charter School, school of acceptance
Hussey Gay Bell provided site/civil engineering services to Altman Architectural Group for this 725-student elementary school, which serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The firm coordinated traffic, geotechnical, parking, archaeological, wetlands and environmental services. In addition, Hussey Gay Bell provided site improvements to McNair Elementary School which was the interim campus for Orange Grove, while construction was underway. The site, which was only 10 acres in size, was very unique as it had numerous Grand Oak trees which had to be preserved. The site originally had minimal stacking for bus loop and parent drop-off drives. The new design significantly increased these driveway lengths, while maintaining the historic trees and allowing for required recreational areas, as well as a separate day care facility building.
