New Fire Station No. 2, Sandy Springs, GA

A New 17,000 SF Fire Station, 24/7, Self-Contained Facility

The City of Sandy Springs selected Hussey Gay Bell to design its new 2-story, 4-bay fire station at 135 Johnson Ferry Road NE in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The new fire station will replace Fire Station No. 2 currently located on the property. Fire Station No. 2 was built in 1969 and has been through significant remodels over the years and no longer meets space needs for crew, apparatus and future growth. In addition, the underground stormwater drainage system is not functioning properly and is in need of replacement. The new fire station will be a 17,000 SF, 24/7, self-contained facility that will include an integral stair training tower, rappelling and tunnel rescue training, as well as sustainable features. Infrastructure improvements will also include parking, utilities, sewer and stormwater management. The City anticipates a Design-Bid-Build project delivery method with an estimated construction budget of $9.2M.
