A New 5-Bay, 2-Story, 25,000 SF Fire Station
Project consists of the construction of a new, 2-story fire station on the lot adjacent to the existing fire station located at the corner of Liberty Street and South Commerce Street. The selected option is to build a new fire station, to move the old station functions into the new station; and to demolish the old station. The new station will be a 5 bay, 2-story, approximately 25,000 SF, self-contained station with 24-hour operation. The project will be pursued in 2 separate phases.
In Phase 1, Hussey Gay Bell will provide programming for the proposed new building including a list of all of the proposed spaces, functions sizes, adjacencies, circulation, mechanical and electrical requirements, and any other special needs and considerations. Hussey Gay Bell will also provide preliminary code research indicating applicable codes with associated restrictions, limitations, and requirements, in addition to narratives on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, low voltage). Once the written program is approved, the firm will provide three separate conceptual schemes, of which each will include a conceptual floor plan, site plan, exterior elevations and a low resolution 3-model. The firm will also provide a rough, order-of-magnitude conceptual cost estimate.
Once the Phase 1 program and concept is approved, the final scope of work and budget will be established; and the firm will move into Phase 2 which includes full design and construction services.
Civil engineering services will be provided by the City Engineer, Simonton Engineering.
