More Space For Eagles Fans And Their Kids

During the 2013 offseason, this expansion project increased Paulson Stadium’s total capacity to 25,000 and moved all of Georgia Southern University’s football facilities into a single state-of-the-art Football Operations Center. At the time the plan was originally announced, the 57,000 SF facility was intended to be FCS level and rival many at the FBS level. At the time of completion, GSOU was a transitional FBS member in the Sun Belt Conference. The Ted Smith Family Football Center consists of coaches’ offices, team meeting rooms, locker rooms, rehabilitation rooms, weight room and the Football Hall of Fame exhibit, which displays the program’s history and honors GSOU legends. Completed in 2014, the $10M facility was the largest privately-funded project in the history of Georgia Southern University.

As a subconsultant to Rosser, Hussey Gay Bell provided civil/site planning and design services, as well as topographic and ALTA surveying services to support the expansion. The topographic survey included locations of all water utilities, sewer utilities, drainage utilities, buildings, walks, parking areas, street paving and trees while the ALTA survey was performed to facilitate leasing of planned facilities in a separate scope of work. Coordination with the City of Statesboro, Georgia Southern University and the USG Board of Regents was necessary in completing all tasks associated with Hussey Gay Bell’s scope of work.

Additionally, GSOU contracted with Hussey Gay Bell to provide civil and structural engineering services for the Field of Dreams which is located between the stadium’s east end zone and the Football Operations Center. The Field of Dreams provides a game-day experience for children 12 and under.
