My passion for the engineering industry is something that started at an early age. I was always interested in the construction process and how bare parcels of land shaped the communities that we lived in. As I became older, I decided that I wanted to make a career out of it. I chose to major in civil engineering at Georgia Southern University because I wanted to be around the engineering/construction design process, as well as the actual construction. While in college, I had internships at several different companies in the engineering and construction field. The summer before graduation, I had the privilege to join the team at Hussey Gay Bell as an intern in the private civil group.

As an intern, I was quickly introduced to many different types of projects. From 2,500+ acre industrial tracks, 2,300+ acre residential tracks, and everything in between; Hussey Gay Bell has challenged me with many different types of projects. It was the perfect blend of fast-paced and detailed work that allowed me to not only work as a team, but in an independent setting as well. Each project was carefully managed from concept planning through final permitting. Each day I was challenged not only to hone the skills I had, but to develop new ones that will undoubtedly help me throughout my career. I had a number of internships and other work experiences prior to this one, and I have to say, this one was the best.

Shortly after graduation from Georgia Southern, I joined Hussey Gay Bell as a full-time employee. The transition from intern to a full-time employee was a smooth one, and it has allowed me to continue to build and fine-tune the skills I acquired during my time here as an intern. The company’s leadership has allowed me to continually learn and take on a range of additional responsibilities early on in my career.

Throughout my experiences thus far, it has become evident that a new development is more than just a development; it is a dream for most people. It’s the culmination of hard work and lots of planning. My colleagues and I enjoy making those dreams come true, and we believe that the engineering design process can be a personal experience with genuine relationships. It’s amazing what can happen when people, ideas, and perspectives connect. We have a strong desire to produce a great product, as well as outstanding customer service. One day, I hope to be able to step back and be as proud of the relationships I have formed along the way, as I am of the projects I have worked on.
