Ground was broken Thursday for Critz BMW. Representatives from the Critz family, architects, Hussey Gay Bell & DeYoung, and J.T. Turner Construction Co. joined other community and business leaders in the ceremony.

The new 25,000-square-foot building, which will sit near the corner of Stephenson Avenue and White Bluff Road, will be completed by October and feature multiple interactive displays, a central cafe and an open floor plan.

The project is the second phase of a renovation and addition to Critz’s nine-acre facility. The old BMW building, which also housed Critz Mercedes, was renovated last year and is now dedicated to the Mercedes brand.

Plans call for Critz to construct a 4,000-square-foot building to house its General Motors brands — Buick and GMC — adjacent to the new BMW showroom.
